People Are Our Greatest Asset, and Other Management Lies


Over the course of 40 years’ experience sitting on various boards of directors, IESE Prof. Jaume Llopis has witnessed how in business administration some maxims are considered valid when in fact they lack any foundation whatsoever.

In Management by Lies: Myths and Lies in Business Administration, Llopis brings together some of these bogus clichés and, with a good dose of irony, invites readers to draw conclusions and learn from mistakes in order to achieve excellence in the running of a company.

Llopis argues that all business executives should base their work on four pillars: an institutional strategy; predicting the future; constant adaptation of a company’s business model to changes in the market; and total dedication to people. These principles permeate all of the areas around which myths have been created, and they need to be questioned.
