Singapore companies value good corporate governance: survey


Singapore companies are paying more attention to good corporate governance, Channel NewsAsia report quoted results of a survey as saying Tuesday.

The latest Singapore Board of Directors Survey, conducted by the Singapore Institute of Directors, showed that 96 percent of the firms polled have independent directors comprising at least one-third of their board, up from 89 percent in the previous survey.

The survey also found that local companies are attaching more importance to communication with shareholders, spending more on training their board members, as well as raising payment to attract the best directors.
