Compliance alliance



It is a sign of our red-tape-infested times that mhl support, which helps businesses comply with employment and safety law, will open "state-of-the-art" new offices on Monday. Government efforts to cut red tape have so far only resulted in a counter-productive slew of committees. Nick McKay, a Midlands entrepreneur, has responded with admirable opportunism by creating mhl. Piquantly, Sir Digby Jones will cut the ribbon at mhl's new HQ in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Sir Digby previously enjoyed a certain prominence as a scourge of over-regulation in his role as director- general of the CBI. In his new guise as a multi-tasking non-exec and broadcaster he cannily holds a directorship at mhl. Could it be that the Big Fella, despite his previous broadsides, is praying for more red tape to swell the coffers of mhl?
