CIRI - Canadian Investor Relations Institute - 19th Annual IR Conference

When: May 28-30, 2006
Where: Quebec, Canada

It’s 1534, and explorer Jacques Cartier is searching for a passage through the New World to the riches of the East. He discovers the St. Lawrence River and eventually establishes Quebec City.

Fast forward to 2006. IROs are searching for passage through the regulatory maze. They navigate the treacherous waters of disclosure and crisis management. Searching for answers: What does a portfolio manager want? What does the Board do with my report? Do I need to report on corporate sustainability?

IROs’ relationships with senior management, with the board of directors, with shareholders and with the public are changing as well. Investor relations roles and responsibilities continue to change and grow and expectations are justifiably high.

In 1534, Cartier discovered a New World in Québec City, where in 2006, IROs will find their own safe harbour.
