Canadian Emissions Market Recommended


A Canadian government panel recommended Monday that prices be set for greenhouse gas emissions and that taxes, caps and emissions trading plans be quickly established.

“If something’s free, then lots of people will do it,” Glenn Murray, the former mayor of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and head of the group, told a news conference.

The report, which did not suggest any specific prices for emissions, was welcomed by some environmental and business groups.
