Institutional investors have traditionally had a black and white approach to the defence industry: either they invest but do not engage with those companies about their activities and policies, or they shun the entire sector.
The latter group do not invest because of concerns that the industry supplies arms and ammunition to governments or non-governmental actors known to commit grave and systematic violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.
