Australia wants execs more transparent

Australia is pushing to increase the transparency of senior executives of large corporations after abuses that have lead to high-profile corporate collapses.

Prentice Parbery Barilla chartered accountants partner Steve Parbery - who also advises the federal government on major insolvencies - said there was a trend in Australia to introduce better corporate governance in order to make directors more accountable for their errors.

"I think the trend (in Australia) is that, more and more so, when we see the demise of the bigger corporations, what is flowing out of it is the sign of illegality ... big companies now are trying to put in better corporate governance," Mr Parbery said.
