Firms should disclose more pay info, SEC chief says

The chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission called Wednesday for U.S. companies to better disclose how they pay their top officers, the second time in at least a month he has urged more disclosure on firms.

"I would also like to see greater disclosure of pay packages - with not only the total amount of compensation provided, but for each element of this compensation to be clearly explained," SEC Chairman William Donaldson said in remarks prepared for delivery to a forum at Duke University in North Carolina.
