Prosecutors in the case of Bernard Ebbers, the former WorldCom chief executive, derided his lawyers for mounting a defense hinging on Mr. Ebbers's claim that he didn't know an $11 billion accounting fraud took place while he was at the helm of WorldCom -- what the prosecutors dubbed the "Aw Shucks" defense.
