The Securities and Exchange Commission said on March 2 that it is further extending the deadline for foreign private issuers and smaller U.S. public companies to comply with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The latest extension gives foreign private issuers and "non-accelerated filers" until the first fiscal year ending on or after July 15, 2006 to comply with the internal control over financial reporting requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act contained in Section 404. That is a one-year extension from the previous deadline.
