SEC weighs changes to company reporting rules

The Securities and Exchange Commission is weighing revisions to companies' reporting requirements under a landmark anti-fraud law, but the law should not be weakened because of compliance costs, the SEC chairman said Thursday.

William Donaldson spoke at a hearing by a House panel amid rumblings of a possible legislative fix to the 2002 law born of corporate scandals.
