In his opening remarks to the conference I just attended on financial reporting, FASB chairman Bob Herz went out of his way to compliment the preceding speaker, Scott Taub, the SEC’s deputy chief accountant, on both his comments and his appearance. Bob then explained to everyone’s amusement that Scott personally approves the FASB’s budget.
But I’m not sure he was joking. On my way out of the conference, I saw Bob using a payphone, while everyone else I saw making calls used wireless technology. I myself got signal after signal on my cellular device.
Please, Scott, don’t tell me you don’t pay the FASB enough to buy its chairman a cell phone.
