MICG to introduce Corporate Governance Rating by year-end

An independent global standard Corporate Governance Rating will be introduced by year-end with government-linked companies (GLCs) being the first group of companies subject to the rating to be set up by the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG).

MICG said the move would promote good corporate governance in the country and the GLCs, by being the first batch to go through the litmus test, were expected to set the example for the rest of the corporate sector.

The rating will be on a voluntary basis and will involve a three-month process encompassing all aspects of a company’s operations from auditing to corporate governance practices that will be scrutinised, rated and published.
