Final report of the Extractive Industries Review

Can extractive industries projects be compatible with the World Bank Group’s (WBG) goals of sustainable development and poverty reduction? In response to criticism of WBG involvement in extractive industries, the Extractive Industries Review was established three years ago to assess the Bank’s role in this sector. Following stakeholder consultation, regional workshops, and six research projects, this final report concludes that extractive industries projects can be compatible with poverty reduction and sustainable development - but only if the right conditions are in place.
