Whistleblowers ordered rehired


A provision of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 that protects whistleblowers has been tested in U.S. District Court in New Haven. On May 13, a district court judge enforced a preliminary order by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration that required Fairfield-based Competitive Technologies Inc. reinstate two men who claim they were fired in June 2003 because they raised concerns about the company’s financial reporting.

Johnnie Johnson, a spokesman for CTI, said plaintiffs John Scott Bechtel and Willie Jacques Jr. were let go because of lack of revenue. The two, each titled vice president, worked in sales, Johnson said Tuesday.
