Skadden Arps Tops List for the Fifth Straight Year

The best corporate law firm in the U.S. is Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, according to a survey of 1,483 directors and 284 general counsel of publicly traded companies released today by Corporate Board Member magazine.
New York-based Skadden Arps won the directors' vote for the fifth consecutive year. However, 18 of the 19 other firms on the directors' list moved up or down from last year. Two firms (Washington D.C.'s Covington & Burling and New York's Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison, which placed No. 14 and No. 19, respectively, last year) failed to make the Top 20 this year. In their place, at No. 17: New York's Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and at No. 18: Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr.
