New York Governor submits public authority reform bill

Governor George Pataki yesterday announced that he has submitted to the Legislature the Public Authorities Accountability Act of 2005 -- a comprehensive reform measure designed to ensure that public authorities in New York State follow the highest standards of accountability, transparency and professionalism.

The legislation will effectively codify the Model Governance Principles that were established for public authorities last year by renowned corporate governance expert Ira Millstein.
