AASB Action Alert - Number 86 - July, 2005

Strategy and Work Program
The Board agreed an approach to a review of the activities and role of the UIG and agreed that its sub-committee should first consult with present and recent former AASB and UIG members and key constituents to develop recommendations for consideration by the Board in the development of an Invitation to Comment to be issued as part of its broader consultation.

The Board also discussed proposals for sharing work on IASB and IPSASB projects with the New Zealand FRSB to facilitate convergence between Australia and New Zealand Standards and to make best use of limited staff and Board resources. Subject to the deliberations of the New Zealand FRSB next week, the Board agreed to trial project sharing activity and that it would be desirable to hold joint meetings from time to time.
