There are three reasons why this election is most welcome:she is a woman and there is an urgent need for diversity in Europe. she comes from a small company and, particularly in France, the vision of a small company is lacking, versus that of the big and state-owned corporations which dominate and stifle. she comes from a service business, which is also an important alternative view, in a country where manufacturing is still considered a real business and anything else is questionable.
France and Europe will benefit from this selection!

France's main employer's union, Medef, elected Laurence Parisot as its first woman president Tuesday at a time when the government is struggling to convince voters of the need for major economic reform.
Parisot, 45, who currently heads polling firm Ifop, will pick up the efforts of outgoing Medef boss Ernest-Antoine Seilliere, lobbying the government to pursue structural reform of France's rigid labor markets and what it sees as other burdens to business.
