New roadmap available for corporate governance twists and turns

CFA Centre for Financial Market Integrity releases a manual for evaluating corporate governance structures and risk

Analysts and investors around the world safeguard their interests when they assess a company's corporate governance policies and associated risks before making investment decisions. But to what standards should these companies be held?

In response to wide-ranging effects of recent corporate failures on the global markets, many countries, industry groups and other constituencies have proposed or created new corporate governance guidelines that help companies establish better oversight. But investors aren't off the hook; they share some responsibility for evaluating the presence - or absence - of corporate governance safeguards and for understanding the cultures of the companies in which they invest.
