Seoul warns foreign banks


South Korea's financial regulator yesterday warned Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas about alleged improper trading in derivatives and ordered the two banks and Barclays Capital to impose a range of sanctions against staff.

The Financial Supervisory Service also confirmed that it has referred allegations against Hermes Investment Management, the UK fund, to the supreme prosecutor's office for a criminal investigation. Hermes is accused of conspiring to manipulate Samsung Corporation's share price.
