Watchdog to review effectiveness of revised corporate governance code


The standards-setter responsible for overseeing the controversial corporate governance code is to review whether it is "working successfully", a move which will offer hope to critics who want it watered down.

The Financial Reporting Council said yesterday it would spend the next six months assessing how effectively the revised combined code, which was introduced in November 2003, was being implemented.
