For three months, the Yahoo Finance Web site has featured rankings of how well public companies perform corporate governance functions.
Yet the "corporate governance quotient," featured on the site's company profile pages, has barely registered locally. Several financial services pros and public company representatives admitted they were unaware that Yahoo is posting the accountability gauges.
Rockville, Md.-based Institutional Shareholder Services, which calculates the quotient, believes tweaks it will make this fall could inspire more investors to use the ranking system.
