Do we really believe that this gentleman has acted impartially? Not me! While he may have acted within the letter of the law, and a lawyer needs to answer this one, it is difficult to believe that the law allows the supposedly independant head of the Bank of Italy to clearly act with favoritism. Unless the law says that he is allowed to discriminate against foreigners and he only needs to be impartial with Italian banks (of course if he discriminates against european banks, this would then be against European law).
This man should go and the rules of the Bank of Italy need to be changed. The italian banking system has no credibility and will not until they get their act together.
