Embattled SA Rugby boss Brian van Rooyen offered to resign after attorneys presented a report finding him guilty of bad corporate governance, it has emerged.
But he was persuaded to stay on as president of the SA Rugby Union after a discussion with senior rugby officials, who said yesterday that a structure would be put in place to safeguard rugby's interests.
Yesterday it was clear that most rugby union provincial presidents still supported Van Rooyen and stand behind a unanimous decision that he should continue as Saru president.
