Ethics is serious business


Ethical lapses are often highlighted in business and politics but these problems affect every institution of our society.

Philanthropic, religious, educational, sports and other organisations are not immune. Regrettably, Catholic priests and other religious (non-Catholic) leaders have sexually abused children, students have cheated in exams and plagiarism is no stranger in academia. Charitable organisations and no doubt, many of our church leaders have spent funds entrusted to them irresponsibly, if not recklessly. Soccer referees and cricketers have been accused of 'throwing' matches and even Olympic judges have been accused of fixing scores. Ethics is serious business and needs serious attention.
