European investors still worry about corporate governance in ASEAN

Finance Minister Thanong Bidaya on Friday conceded that European investors still worried about a lack of transparent performance of listed companies in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and viewed their good governance was inferior to that of some countries in Latin America.

He said certain investors attending the 2nd ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Seminar, being held in London, had enquired about the transparent performance of listed companies in ASEAN.

They paid more attention to investing in Latin America than ASEAN because they believed policies and understanding of governments in ASEAN members on the good governance remained ambiguous.
