
In an effort to curb the increase in money laundering in recent years, Korea has strengthened reporting guidelines for cash transactions at financial companies, the government said yesterday.
Starting next year, local financial institutions will be required to report all cash transactions worth 50 million won ($48,700) or more by individuals made in one day.
In 2004 there were 12 million financial transactions that were worth 50 million won or more.
