
South Korea was ranked third among nine Asian economies after China and the Philippines in terms of corporate governance standards and its implementation, a report showed Monday.
However, South Korea came in last in terms of rights of shareholders, according to the report co-authored by Korea University professor Jang Ha-sung and City University of Hong Kong professor Stephen Cheung.
The authors conducted a comparative evaluation of corporate governance regulations and practices in the nine East-Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Malaysia, in a two-part survey.
