ICC backs anti-counterfeiting congress


The International Chamber of Commerce, the world business organization, is giving full support to a Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy convened by the World Customs Organization (WCO) and Interpol in the French city of Lyon on 14 and 15 November.

The Congress will further develop themes taken up by business leaders from some of the world’s top companies when they met in London at a conference called by ICC in September to take the fight against the theft of intellectual property to the highest international level. They met then under the banner “Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy” (BASCAP). Estimated at $600 billion, this criminal activity is threatening the knowledge-based economy of the 21st century.
