Standard & Poor's Releases Updated Code of Conduct

Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services released today its new Code of Conduct, which replaces its prior Code of Practices and Procedures published in September 2004. This updated Code of Conduct tracks both the format and the language of the Code of Conduct Fundamentals for Credit Rating Agencies published by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (“IOSCO”) in December 2004. This new format underscores the alignment between Standard & Poor’s Code and the IOSCO Code.

“We believe that Standard & Poor’s Code of Conduct will further enhance the market’s understanding of our credit rating process and very much support IOSCO’s work in creating a global framework for understanding rating opinions,” Vickie A. Tillman, executive vice president of Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services commented.
