National Foundation for Corporate Governance (NFCG) in cooperation with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and World Bank is organizing a Roundtable on Corporate Governance on "Role of Institutional Investors in the Corporate Governance of their Portfolio Companies".
Prem Chand Gupta, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Company Affairs, Komal Anand, Secretary, Ministry of Company Affairs and Michael Carter, Country Director, World Bank, address the Inaugural Session at 1000 hrs.
The World Bank in cooperation with the CII prepared a policy paper on the "Role of the Institutional Investors in the Corporate Governance of their Portfolio Companies" in 2004.The objective of the Policy note was to review current market practices regarding the exercise of ownership rights of Institutional Investors in their portfolio companies, and to propose policy recommendations to the GOI to strengthen the incentives of institutional investors for monitoring the corporate governance of their portfolio companies.
