
No surprise here. A blind defence of his Chairman is what you would expect from someone who wants to keep his job.
Who cares what Mr. Wiedeking thinks, he is a lap dog to Mr. Piech and does what he is told. Mr. Piech needs to give up the Chairman's position at Volkswagen, that is the public company and the one that is experiencing severe governance misbehaviour on various fronts. On the Volkswagen Board yes, Chairman NO!

Wendelin Wiedeking, Porsche chief executive, on Wednesday launched an outspoken attack on corporate governance critics of the sports car maker’s purchase of a 19 per cent stake in Volkswagen, calling their complaints “nonsense”.
Mr Wiedeking underlined his view that Porsche’s demand for representation on the board was in line with corporate governance guidelines and said there was “no conflict of interest” with Ferdinand Piëch, VW’s non-executive chairman, who is also a leading shareholder in Porsche.
