Russian IT sector regulator Reiman denies WSJ article

Russian Information Technology and Communications Minister Leonid Reiman Monday said an article written about him by The Wall Street Journal was "initiated by an unprincipled investor."

The Dec. 2 article said Reiman was a central figure in a German criminal probe into a money-laundering scandal.

The newspaper quoted letters by prosecutors in Frankfurt saying they suspect Reiman of "illegally enriching himself through a series of transactions" and concealing more than $1 billion in assets.

Reiman said prosecutors haven't contacted him.

"All the facts mentioned in this article are wrong," Reiman told journalists. "If the facts don't correspond with truth, it means someone needed it."

A Wall Street Journal spokeswoman said: "Mr. Reiman's description of the origins of the article is inaccurate. The article was reported and written because it is important information for our readers and we stand by our story."
