Govt for new law to enhance corporate governance: Dr. Jyoti
Eleven Sri Lankans, eight Pakistanis, two Indians and one Bangladeshi company were awarded while Nepali companies failed to bag the award. Nepali companies have so far contested only in two categories out of the five categories set aside for the award. Two Nepali companies—Laxmi Bank Limited and Nepal Lever Limited had contested in the categories of banking and manufacturing sectors. The BPA award is provided to those companies disclosing more information about the corporation voluntarily, best accounting standard and corporate governance.
The award was distributed in three sets— Overall Winners, Category-Wise Awardees and Merit Award Winners.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon and Hayleys Limited of Sri Lanka and Infosys Technologies of India became the overall winners, first runner up and second runner up respectively under the first set. As per category wise winners, Commercial Bank of Ceylon stood first from the banking sector while Sampath Bank Limited of Sri Lanka and Askari Commercial Bank Limited of Pakistan stood second jointly.
