BCP chairman denies corporate governance contrary to CMVM regulations
Paulo Teixeira Pinto, chairman of Banco Comercial Portugues, denied claims that the corporate governance rules of Portugal's biggest bank fail to comply with the recommendations of CMVM, the Lisbon stock market regularor.
In an interview with Diario de Noticias, Teixeira Pinto also denied there is anything wrong with proposed new governance rules at EDP - Energias de Portugal SA which have been modelled on BCP and which will be put to the vote by EDP shareholders in April.
Expresso weekly reported at the weekend that BCP's governance model is contrary to CMVM regulations and that proposed changes, while positive, will still leave doubts.
