From Mr Urban Bäckström.
Sir, It is with great concern that I have noted a compromise agreement in the European Parliament to scrap demands aimed at stopping protectionism in the service sector.
Public authorisation is a remnant of the guild system, its aim to protect a sector or the people working in a sector from outside competition. To give public authorities the right to deny individuals, on gratuitous grounds, to conduct business would not only greatly reduce trade in services on the internal market.
