Lost Good Governance image restored

Notice has been sent to the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations to advise Mansoor Sohail the Press Councilor to make preparations for transfer back to Islamabad as his successor's posting orders have been issued.

It came as a complete surprise to him and he is quite distraught. The recall orders were finalized by senior government officials in secrecy without knowledge of their staff officers many of whom are friends of Mansoor Sohail. The orders became public after the Mission got them.

Mansoor has been frantically calling up his contacts in Islamabad to secure reprieve on various grounds ranging from "insufficient notice" to "hardship for his children in the middle of the school year." He made the same arguments when he was previously recalled in October 1993 after serving at the mission for 11 years. His difficulty is the strong links of his successor Shafqat Jalil , who has served as Deputy Press Secretary with the present Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. Currently Jalil is Director Public Relations in Lahore.
