The Corporate Governance & Financial Reporting Centre (CGFRC), in collaboration with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS), organised a corporate governance forum titled "Auditors and Audit Committees - Partners in Corporate Governance" on 22nd of March 2006 at Sheraton Towers, Singapore. The event was supported by CEO Forum and the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID).
The opening address was given by A/P Mak Yuen Teen, Co-Director of CGFRC, who introduced the guest speaker, Mr. James E. Copeland, Jr.. Mr. Copeland is the former Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte & Touche, U.S.A. and its global parent, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. He is currently the Senior Fellow for Corporate Governance with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as Global Scholar at Georgia State University's Robinson School of Business, and a member of the Boards of Directors for Coca-Cola Enterprises, ConocoPhillips and Equifax, Inc. He is also Chairman of Audit Committee at Equifax, and is Chairman of the Compensation Committee at Coca-Cola Enterprises.
