
These two governments will do a deal and then they will all be friends again. The European Union rules and regulations will not have a chance.
Is the European Commission going to just stand by and allow governments to do theoir own deals, regardless of EU rules......most probably!

The French government is considering new trade initiatives with Italy as a peace offering to resolve the dispute over its efforts to thwart a hostile bid by Italian utility Enel for Suez, the Franco-Belgian power group.
It is understood that French and Italian finance ministers will discuss the subject when they meet on the sidelines of European discussions in Brussels on Monday. It is also likely that France will propose ways to help Enel increase its presence in the French energy market.
