SMEs need light-touch accounts regime

Sir, Stella Fearnley and Tony Hines ("Rules are a big problem for small companies", January 19) examined the thorny issue of international financial reporting standards (IFRS) not being suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK. But the authors did not highlight the considerable effort the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) is putting into its project to develop a version of its standards aimed at SMEs.
