Auditors told to make courageous judgments
Companies and auditors need to be more "courageous" in making judgment calls on accounting if Europe is to avoid US-style standards that can obscure the real performance of a business, a new report says.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland warns in a paper published today that excessive nervousness could turn international financial reporting standards into a set of narrow compliance rules.
