Grass-roots foundation challenges CEOs' high pay


Frederick "Shad" Rowe is hoping to spark a thunderclap of silence.

Rowe runs Greenbrier Partners, an investment group in Dallas, and he's fed up with companies paying too much for chief executives who do too little.

So he's started a foundation, Investors for Director Accountability, aimed at holding directors accountable when executive pay goes up as shareholder returns go down.

He wants investors to fight back the only way they can at most public companies: by withholding their votes for directors.
