Highlights from the 2006 Quality of Living Survey


In the past year, Cairo's Quality of Living ranking has fallen nine places, to 131st position. This change is attributed to growing concerns over political turmoil and terrorist attacks in the city and surrounding area. Safety issues continue to be a major concern worldwide and have impacted many cities' rankings. (See the 2006 Quality of Living press release for more details).

Zurich, Geneva, Vancouver and Vienna remain the top scoring cities on the Quality of Living index, with all four cities improving on last year's index rating. One of this year's biggest improvements has been in Chicago, rising 11 places to 41 from 52. This significant rise has been attributed to a decreasing crime rate in the city.
