
Imperial Holdings chief executive Bill Lynch (62) is the 2006 Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year – one of the greatest honours that can be bestowed on to businessman.
Lynch, wearing a dark green bow tie to match wife Ann’s evening gown, said he was “incredibly elated” and delighted at the recognition the award would give entrepreneurship in South Africa.
He beat competitors from 31 other countries, including a Taiwanese whose company produces one of every three laptop computers sold globally and America’s entrant, the co-founder of R500bn retail group The Home Depot.
