Following is a letter sent to the Editor of the Financial Times:
Dear Sir,
Your recent editorial expressed difficulty in categorizing the new star of the Socialist party and her online declarations of policy, some of which are making her Socialist colleagues very uncomfortable (¨Sénegolène attacks her party's iconic law¨ Financial Times June 6).
Allow me to provide some assistance. Rather than considering the traditional left-right spectrum to try to find a category that fits, try this one: politician seeking election.
You will find she fits snugly into that category, although she will not be the only politician found there.
