Regulators seek to close language gap on reporting


Enthusiasts of XBRL are puzzled that such an enticing idea has not had more success. XBRL (extensible business reporting language) is the electronic language for communicating business and financial data. Or, as Trevor Walker, vice-president product marketing for Cartesis, which specialises in business performance management, puts it: "[It is] a simple way for businesses to tag data making it much more comparable for users."
