ICD Blue Ribbon Commission on the Governance of Executive Compensation in Canada Established
Championed by leading Canadian organizations and business executives
The Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) Blue Ribbon Commission on the Governance of Executive Compensation in Canada ("ICD Blue Ribbon Commission") has commenced work on a study that will provide Compensation Committees with the necessary tools to make more-informed decisions. The study will be undertaken by Professors Murray J. Bryant, Chris Anderson, Vaughan Radcliffe and Stephen Sapp of the Ivey Business School. The ICD Blue Ribbon Commission is funded by the members of the Commission and a grant from Industry Canada, who will consider the recommendations as part of their review of the Canada Business Corporations Act.
"Governance of executive compensation can be enhanced if we overcome the lack of information and knowledge of best practices of executive compensation in Canadian public companies," stated Commission member Paul Cantor. "This study will assist Board Compensation Committees in making broadly-based and market-related compensation decisions."
