
It is not surprising that there was a need to go outside the automotive industry to find a good executive. They are in short supply in that sector.
Unfortunately, Bill Ford remains Executive Chairman and has not admitted his utter failure in the position, after having taken over from his previous CEO with much fanfare about the virtues of family management and ownership.
He remains and the Ford shareholders are the losers.

Alan Mulally, Ford Motor’s new chief executive, will receive $18.5m in one-time payments to join the troubled carmaker, Ford disclosed in a regulatory filing on Friday.
Ford agreed to pay Mr Mulally a signing bonus of $7.5m plus $11m to offset his compensation at Boeing, where he was head of the commercial aircraft division until earlier this week.
