H E Yousuf Hussein Kamal, Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Economy and Commerce, yesterday said Qatar was intending to set up its own national corporate governance standards after conducting a comprehensive study on the basis of international experience.
He said that the corporate governance standards set up by international institutions like the OECD and other organisations are the right framework to establish the country's own national corporate governance standards.
"This would help consolidate Qatar's standing in enriching the investment environment for the advancement of local companies and establishments to fulfill the country's vision to build a strong economy based on transparency and attracting foreign investments", he said.
